Lorelei from Lorrelei's Blog put up a chance to win two etched copper cones made by Kristen Giles of The Cerebral Dilettane. I couldn't believe I won a chance to play with these beautiful little pieces of copper, they measure 1 1/8 an inch long and are so cute. I decided they would make great lariat ends so I capped them with some disk beads and hung a bunch of beads from the bottom. I love the look of the capped cone it really gives an unusual shape to the finished piece.
Here are the rest of the folks participating in the cone challenge.

Squeeeee! I love this necklace so much! great colors, nice use of silk ribbon, and love the beads you used to dangle below each cone! Really great piece!! Thank you so much for participating!
ReplyDeleteYour very welcome it was a great challenge and I loved working with the cones.
DeleteThat's awesome!! I can see this with my favorite white t-shirt and jeans...perfect! You really pulled the scale of everything together perfectly with that fat ribbon and your beads. :) Happy August!

Absolutely gorgeous!! Love the combination of textures and that rich purple and copper work so well together. btw, your link (not that you need it on this page!) doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know, I think I fixed the problem with the links :)
DeleteI was envisioning them with a lariat style necklace too! I love how you put the discs on the bottom, and hung the other beads under that--and what a great way to get around the whole PITA of doing it the traditional way (I hate doing that, making the wire loop inside and then having to figure out how long everything should hang down). This gives them a whole new look, like they're solid!! Love your purple and plum tones--it's one of my favorite color schemes to pair with copper. Excellent!

Thanks, I just didn't want to use them in the traditional way since it was a challenge.
DeleteI love your lariat. Like Keirsten, I love the purple with the copper. The dangles are lovely and perfect on the ends.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty, I love the colors. I don't think I would have thought to cap the cones with the disc beads.
ReplyDeleteOooh, me like! I haven't done a lariat style necklace but I may have to try. I especially like the ribbon. What a great complement to the cones :)
ReplyDeleteHow pretty! I love the way you closed up the ends for the dangles. That is a beautiful shade of purple too! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought to cap the beads and THEN use the cones! Really inventive! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love what you made with the cones! It's a really fun piece.
ReplyDeleteThat worked out so very well and is such a unique idea. I love the color you added with the silk also. Cool!!
