My NEW Job :)

I have exciting news, this fall I am teaching a class at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts!  It's a huge honor to teach in their wonderful jewelry studio and I have big plans for this class, here's the description.

Creative Closures, Links and Cold Connections (705)Tracy Bell6 Weeks beginning October 23,Jewelry StudioTuesday, 6:30p.m. - 9p.m.Members: $120.00, Non-Members: $140.00Don't want to solder? This basic jewelry course is ideal for the non-soldering individual who uses found objects, beads, charms and other elements their work. The class includes an introduction to basic jeweler's tools and materials with an emphasis on cold joining techniques using wire and sheet metal. Individuals will focus on original design and then create toggles, hooks, links and captures. Students will also cover recycling materials to add interest and complexity to their design. Many techniques will be covered. Generous open studio time is available for the duration of the class in our fully equipped studio. This class is appropriate for beginner through advanced. Basic metal materials are provided but students are encouraged to bring objects they wish to include in their work.

My second bit of exciting news is that I was asked to speak as a featured artist by the West Michigan Glass Society at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, Art Break about my recycled jewelry on October 23rd at Noon.

Here is the description,

A presentation by Tracy Bell of her recycled Jewelry and other funky stuff.  Come see how one artist looks at other peoples junk and turns it into unusual jewelry.  Tracy often uses items picked up off the beach and street,  All her wire comes from the roads of Battle Creek where her husband is involved in road construction.  She also recycles glass wine and beer bottles to mix with her handmade lampwork beads used in bracelets and necklaces.

Now for some random jewelry porn :)  I sold this bracelet at the show in Michigan City last weekend.  If any of you Michigan City folks are reading this thank you very much for coming out and supporting all the artist.  It was my most successful show to date!

  2. This design is steller! You certainly know how to keep
a reader amused. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well,
almost...HaHa!) Wonderful job. I really loved what you had to say, and
more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!
