Special Orders

I don't normally do special orders but when my husband's boss calls I do what I can to fill his jewelry needs.  His wife's birthday is tomorrow and he called on Monday needing a heart shaped pin. Since I already had plans for Monday and Tuesday this left me Wednesday to get it finished.  He isn't picky and I already know his wife and daughters like my style so it was kinda a no brainier. Sometime ago I had made a heart shaped pin and liked the design I just hadn't worked out the pin part so I figured that most of the design part was finished but how to make a pin out of copper that has some spring into it and doesn't just bend out of shape every time you take if off your clothing. What I found out is it takes a whole lot of hammering to make copper have spring but my finished piece was cute and I was very pleased with the whole process.
Copper and antique button heart pin. It measures about 2 inches across.

The larger heart shaped pin is my first attempt. it measures about 3.5 inches across.
All the copper used in making the pins were up-cycled legally from my husbands road project in downtown Battle Creek, MI.

  2. I love it. I've been trying to figure out how to make a pin out of some of my copper wire, and haven't gotten it figured out yet. But I love the antique buttons with it. Sooo cute. I'm sure he and she will love it.

  6. Thanks for all the great comments, it's always good to be pushed a bit. It made me finally work out the pin problem and now I won't be so afraid to make more.
